Down the Rabbit Hole (Again)

July 2, 2022. It’s come to my attention that a number of images have disappeared from this post, which accounts for the numerous blank spaces. I suspect gremlins. I’ll be restoring these missing images as soon as possible.

As I wrote in the intro to a previous post made up of random material like this one, when I’ve been looking for film-related material, I almost always come across a lot of other stuff I feel compelled to save. There’s no particular rhyme or reason to this particular collection, other than that these items all got my attention in one way or another. Some are simply weird and bizarre, others possibly offensive, certainly politically incorrect. This doesn’t necessarily make any sense. It doesn’t begin or end anywhere, it just starts and stops. Make of it what you will. I’m refraining from any further commentary, which would probably just get in the way.

There’s more (a lot more), but this is probably enough for now. Until next time, be safe. — Ted Hicks

A wild collection, Ted! Almost surreal. Hard to know how to react. Maybe that’s the point!

    • Ted Hicks says:

Thanks! I like your reaction. I didn’t consciously have a point or theme in mind, but I know these images didn’t come together by accident. But I didn’t spend a lot of time planning it. Just put them where it felt right.

    We’ve come a lom=ng way !

  3. James Schwantes says:

These were my favorites dear Capt. Bizarre. Rab.

    • Ted Hicks says:

I had planned to include some images that are more aggressive and extreme, but had a failure of nerve at the last minute. Though I think you would definitely like them. Thanks!

  4. Your collection reminds me of the Jim Shaw exhibit I covered on my blog once:

Jim Shaw: Art Inspired by Pop Culture

Also, I was intrigued by that Sub-Mariner lobby card. I suspect it’s an outright fake imagined by a fan unless someone can confirm Republic was trying to actually get such a production started. Certainly, there was no serial like that ever released.

I, too, was curious about the Sub-Mariner lobby card. I’d never heard of any such production, but didn’t bother to check further before including it in the post. Crabbe’s appearance has a very interesting. Also wasn’t familiar with Jim Shaw. I want to check your blog post in detail, as his work is fascinating. Thanks!
